Updated: 11:00 a.m.

A man was shot and critically wounded in Mt. Airy late Monday night.

At around 11:30 p.m. a resident just off of Germantown Avenue and Carpenter Lane told NewsWorks that he heard five or six loud booms and not long after heard a man screaming “I’m shot, I’m shot.”

The victim who police believe was shot on East Slocum Street, walked about 800 feet to reach the Philadelphia Fire Station at 6900 Germantown Ave.

He was seen being treated on the sidewalk at the corner of Germantown Avenue and Carpenter Lane. An ambulance arrived. NewsWorks photographer Bas Slabbers reports seeing a white sheet being pulled over the man’s face at that time, but police later reported he was in critical condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.
