An accident in a garage killed a man in Germantown Saturday. Fire rescue crews were called around 12:30 to home in the 6300 block of Carnation Street for what the dispatched said was a man trapped under a car.

A witness found a 59-year-old man trapped under a black Mercedes Benz, according to Officer Christine O’Brien, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department.

“They find him unresponsive and stuck under a vehicle in the garage,” said O’Brien. The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., she said.

Fire rescue crews reached the scene at around 12:30 p.m. and pronounced the man dead at the location at 12:50 p.m.

It is unclear what happened before the car crushed the man.

“I’m assuming he was working on [the car],” said O’Brien.
