A look at Penn State scandal legal fallout after 5 years
It’s been nearly five years since retired Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested, and Pennsylvania courts are still dealing with the scandal’s legal fallout.
Sandusky testified in a courtroom earlier this month as he seeks to have his 45-count criminal conviction overturned.
Other cases that remain include criminal allegations against three former Penn State administrators over how they responded to complaints about Sandusky. There’s no indication when they might go to trial.
Also still active is a defamation and whistleblower lawsuit against Penn State by a former coaching staff member who reported seeing Sandusky abuse a boy in a shower 15 years ago, and a commercial disparagement case against the university by the family of former head coach Joe Paterno.
