Central Delaware Advocacy Group Announces Officers
The Central Delaware Advocacy Group has chosen its first executive committee.
CDAG is the community group created to insure public input in the implementation of the Action Plan for the Central Delaware Waterfront. The officers, elected last month but announced Friday, include: Steven Weixler of Society Hill Civic Association, chairman; Matt Ruben of Northern Liberties Neighbors Association and Jeff Rush of Queen Village Neighbors, vice chairmen; Marsha Bacal of Society Hill Towers Homeowners Association, treasurer and Laura Lanza of Port Richmond on Patrol & Civic Association, secretary.
Officers were elected from the members of the board of CDAG, which consists of volunteer representatives from each of the waterfront communities.
On Jan. 27, Mayor Michael Nutter announced the creation of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation. The DRWC replaces the failed Penn’s Landing Corporation, and aims to foster development along the waterfront. Nutter and others said in January the DRWC would follow the path set forward by the Civic Vision and Action Plan.
No CDAG members were not named to the new DRWC board, but Nutter said CDAG’s input would be sought.
In the press release announcing the selection of officers, Chairman Weixler, said he was “pleased that the Mayor had followed through with creating an accountable waterfront manager”. He promised “that CDAG members would assume a front and center position at all DRWC meetings and in all critical issues and decisions concerning implementation of the Action Plan”.
