83-year-old Toms River woman tied up at home, robbed

An intruder tied up an 83-year-old woman in her Toms River house early yesterday morning during a home invasion robbery, police said.

Investigators learned that the the suspect, identified only as an “unknown male,” entered the Princess Court house through a window and confronted the woman in her bedroom, said Ralph Stocco, Toms River Police Department spokesman.

The suspect then tied up the woman, who was home alone, searched the house, and stole an undetermined amount of proceeds, according to Stocco.

“We are exploring all motives as well as the possibility that other suspects may have been involved and that this home may have been specifically targeted by the suspect,” Stocco said.
