7th Annual Acorn Collection Day begins in Delaware

The 7th Annual Acorn Collection Day is underway at three locations in Delaware.

The collection day, sponsored by the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife, features 180 volunteers collecting acorns from places where seedlings would not generally be able to grow.

The DNREC says the acorns will then be scattered in reforestation areas to grow on their own.

Volunteers are collecting the acorns in New Castle County, Kent County and Sussex County.
