5 family-friendly ways to celebrate Halloween in Philly this weekend

    Here’s a look at what’s going on this weekend for families. 

    Saturday and Sunday: The Serpent of Woodmere Straw Maze

    This weekend is your last chance to slither your way through the Serpent of Woodmere Straw Maze. On Saturday enjoy arts and crafts at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Halloween Parade at 2 p.m. Arts and crafts on Sunday begin at 11 a.m. Free with museum admission.

    Saturday: Day of the Dead at the Penn MuseumPenn Museum’s World Culture Series presents Dia De Los Muertos in conjunction with the Mexican Consulate and Mexican cultural center. Explore the rich cultural traditions of this celebratory Mexican holiday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free with museum admission.

    Saturday and Sunday: Peddler’s Village Annual Scarecrow ContestEnjoy a family fun filled Fall weekend in Peddler’s Village. Scarecrows, pumpkins music and more. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite scarecrow! Free admission and parking.

    Friday and Saturday: Halloween at Franklin SquareDecorate your own trick or treat bag and follow the Squares Trick or Treat Trail from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Free for children 10 and under. Next, tee up for an evening of Spooky Mini Golf in Philly’s historic Franklin Square from 6 to 9 p.m.

    Saturday: Day of the Dead at Mutter MuseumVisit Philly’s premier medical history museum and join in on family friendly Day of the Dead festivities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free with museum admission.
