Mayor Michael Nutter has appointed Stella M. Tsai, a civil rights and government relations litigation attorney, to the Zoning Code Commission. Tsai will take the seat previously held by the late Judith Eden.

Tsai is a partner at Archer & Greiner P.C., a law firm based in Haddonfield, N.J., with offices in Center City, Princeton, Wilmington and Manhattan. Her areas of practice, according to the firm’s Web site, are commercial litigation, government relations, civil rights, human resources, products liability and municipal liability. She was previously a partner at Christie, Pabarue, Mortensen and Young, P.C.

From 2000 to 2003, Tsai was chair of administrative law at the City of Philadelphia Law Department. In 2006, Mayor John Street appointed her to a new Philadelphia Board of Ethics, where she serves an extended term.

She is the immediate past president of the alumni society at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she graduated in 1988. Tsai also chairs the Women’s Law Project Board of Trustees and is on the Asian-Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania’s executive committee.
