4 shot overnight in East Germantown drive-by

Gunfire erupted late Monday night on Price Street in East Germantown, adding four more shooting victims to a summer that is keeping 14th District police officers busy.

Police officials said that at approximately 11:50 p.m., at least 14 shots were fired from several handguns in an apparent drive-by shooting near the intersection of Price and Sprague streets.

After being struck, four men in their twenties were transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Two of the victims – both said to be 23 years old – were listed in critical condition. One was wounded in the hip, the other in the back.

The remaining victims, aged 23 and 24, were in stable condition early Tuesday morning.

A red or burgundy vehicle was witnessed exiting the Price Street scene following the hail of bullets, but neither the car’s make nor a description of its occupants were available.

“We had at least 25 residents that were outside on their porches, out enjoying the weather,” Chief Inspector Scott Small told NewsWorks content partner NBC10. “Fortunately, there weren’t more individuals struck by gunfire, but this was still a quadruple shooting.”
