3rd public hearing on N.J. plans for next Sandy aid
The third and final public hearing on New Jersey’s plans to spend more than $1.4 billion in Superstorm Sandy recovery aid will be held Friday afternoon in Monmouth County.
The hearing at Brookdale Community College in Middletown is scheduled to run from 4 to 7 p.m.
It follows hearings held earlier this month in Galloway Township and Newark.
The state wants to use roughly half the money for housing programs, including grants for homeowners to rebuild and developers to put up new apartment buildings.
About one-third of the next round of money would go toward fixing vulnerabilities that Sandy exposed in the state’s transportation, energy and water infrastructure systems.
New Jersey received $1.83 billion in storm aid last year.
