3 more cases of fungal meningitis in N.J. make 16 total

    Three more cases of fungal meningitis were reported over the weekend in New Jersey. That brings to 16 the total number of cases in the state that are tied to a recalled, potentially tainted steroid produced by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts.Nationally nearly 300 cases have been reported in 16 states, including 23 deaths.

    In New Jersey state health officials say all of those sickened are recovering.

    Health officials say the three new patients diagnosed with probable fungal meningitis are all from Cumberland County, where the majority of the New Jersey cases have been recorded. They are two men ages 53 and 82, and a 62-year-old woman.
