3 dead, including child, 6 injured in early morning Montco fire

Authorities say three people, including a child, were killed and six other people were injured in an early morning fire in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Emergency crews in Montgomery County were called to the three-story Norristown building at about 4 a.m. Saturday and arrived to find heavy flames and smoke on the first floor.

Chief Thomas O’Donnell of the Norristown Fire Department said two adults died at the scene and a child died at Einstein Montgomery Hospital.

One child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical hospital. Five other adults went to other hospitals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. O’Donnell said the first crews to arrive didn’t hear any working smoke detectors but that will be part of the investigation.
