Former Philly officer pleads guilty to steroids crime

A former Philadelphia police officer has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a conspiracy to illegally distribute anabolic steroids, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced today.  Authorities said Joseph McIntyre bought the steroids for his own use and to distribute to others.  The former Philadelphia Police Officer was charged in an indictment that named more than a dozen other people, including fellow officers.  In calls and text messages intercepted by law enforement, McIntyre discussed acquiring steroids for people who worked at a local health club.McIntyre is the sixth of 15 defendants to enter a guilty plea in the case.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for December.
