$200,000 bail set for woman with gun at South Philly High

Bail has been set for a woman who was found to be in posession of a gun as she entered South Philly High School on Thursday morning to enroll in an adult education class.

The Inquirer reports that bail was set at $200,000 for Kelly Jones, 21, on Friday. Among multiple offenses, she is charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

The weapon, a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol, was discovered in a diaper bag during a routine entrance scan. Accompanied by her baby and an aunt, Jones told police she did not know the gun was there.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29.
