2 Pa. lawmakers wind up in ‘Impeach Corbett’ Facebook group

Two Pennsylvania lawmakers seem to be unwitting members of a Facebook group urging the impeachment of Gov. Tom Corbett.

The group is called Investigate and Impeach Tom W Corbett.

Until Friday morning, one of the featured members of “Investigate and Impeach Tom W Corbett” was Rep. Jesse White, D-Allegheny.

But White says he’s not advocating impeaching the governor.

“This was an instance where I think someone just added me to a group that I wasn’t even aware that I was a member of,” he said, adding that he left the Facebook group as soon as he became aware of it.

Sen. Daylin Leach, D-Montgomery, says he was also added to the group without his knowledge.

Leach says he may not be a Corbett supporter, but he’d rather see Corbett defeated in two years at the polls than impeached.

“If I unlink to it, if I can unlink to it, I’m happy to do that. Not that it — I mean, I’m not sure I understand why it matters,” he said.

Franklin & Marshall College pollster Terry Madonna says the group should be a lesson to public officials that they should monitor their social media pages carefully.

A spokesman for the governor says groups like this come with the territory of being an elected official, and his office isn’t concerned state lawmakers appear to be members.
