Two men died following separate accidental ocean swimming incidents in Sea Isle City this week, police say.

Officers responded to the 86th Street beach around 2:45 p.m. on Monday and found lifeguards and Good Samaritans performing CPR on Brian Zwaan, 58, of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, according to a release from the Sea Isle City Police Department.

He was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed that the Zwaan died from head and neck injuries complicated by drowning, police said.

Then on Wednesday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. at the 59th Street beach, witnesses said a 74-year-old man was knocked over by a large wave and remained underwater for a period of time, according to police.

Sea Isle City lifeguards and nearby swimmers located the man and pulled him onto the beach, where they immediately began CPR with the help of police officers.

The man was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries early Thursday morning, police said.  Authorities are withholding his identity pending family notification.
