18-year-old Toms River woman found safe in Virginia

The 18-year-old Toms River woman who voluntarily left home has been found safe in Virginia, police announced in a release.

Kayla Tufaro was located in Waynesboro, Virginia Tuesday evening, according to Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.

“Corporal Alyssa Zullig of their police department spoke to Kayla and confirmed that she was in good health,” Stocco said. “It was also confirmed that she left home on her own free choice and, in addition, stated her wishes to no longer be listed as a missing person.”

Police have closed the case, Stocco added.
