15th annual Eagles Playground Build

Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) and the Philadelphia Eagles Football Club will team up with the John Moffet Elementary School in Kensington on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, for the Eagles 15thannual Eagles Playground Build.

Eagles coaches, staff, cheerleaders and SWOOP will take the asphalt field and, together with the school community and many generous partners, transform it into a vibrant and welcoming safe haven for children.

Students from Moffet School will join the –Eagles organization in painting colorful exterior and interior murals, inlaying mosaic tiles on benches and tables, constructing a large play structure and planting gardens. A turf field will also be installed to provide the children with an area to play field sports.

Moffet School, home to more than 460 students from kindergarten through 5th grade, was selected as the 2011 Eagles Playground Build school by EYP and the School District of Philadelphia. The murals that will cover the outside of the school will be created by a team of artists, led by David McShane, from the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.

“Every child deserves a safe and vibrant place to play and learn,” said Eagles Owner and Eagles Youth Partnership President Christina Weiss Lurie.  The Eagles Playground Build gives them that and much more.  It brings dignity to a place of hardship and invites kids to dream big.”

Playground partners include: The School District of Philadelphia, City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, Playworld Systems, Lowell Hartzell Contractor, Sprinturf, PermaLife Products, Aramark, Aquafina, Turkey Hill, Caramanico, Shriner Tree Care, Tents & Events, National Event Services, Philadelphia DJ and 94WYSP.
