Sugarhouse Casino gets license renewed as it eyes expansion in Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s only casino has had its license renewed.  Now it’s moving forward with expansion plans.

The Sugarhouse Casino wants to expand it’s footprint on the Delaware River, and City Councilman Frank DiCicco says his bill will expand the casino district to to accommodate the plan.

“A multilevel parking garage, more surface parking more public space, expanding the casino to allow for more table games,” said DiCicco.

DiCicco says even though initially he opposed casinos, things have been going well at Sugarhouse.

“From what I understand they have been an excellent neighbor, I have not received one complaint since they have opened their doors.”

DiCicco feels confident his bill will pass council.
