14th Police District: Where iron-fence thefts lead to arrests

Jan. 1, 2012

7300 block N. 20th St. – Complainant said his sister punched him before picking up a butcher’s knife and cutting him on his right hand. Offender was gone before police arrived.

6200 block Ardleigh St. – Complainant said she was raped by a known acquaintance.

500 block E. Rittenhouse St. – Complainant said a known offender stole her cell phone.

100 block E. Washington Lane – Complainant said a known offender choked and punched her during a dispute. Complainant went to the hospital after breaking her arm in the incident.

Unit block Herman St. – Dell notebook computer and a Sony laptop were stolen from the property.

Jan. 2, 2012

800 block E. Washington Lane – A police officer was struck and dragged down the street during a vehicle investigation. Complainant was taken to the hospital.

6200 block Crittenden St. – 2000 Buick LeSabre stolen.

E. Chelten Ave./Ardleigh St. – Complainant said a man robbed him at gunpoint. Offender ran off with an iPhone 4 and $10.

Unit block Herman St. – Complainant said a man robbed him at gunpoint. Offender ran off with a credit card and $365.

4600 block Germantown Ave. – Complainant said a man robbed her at gunpoint. Offender ran off with an Mp3 player and $123.

100 block E. Gorgas Lane – Iron fencing stolen from property. Two men were arrested.

Jan. 3, 2012

500 block E. Tulpehocken St. – Complainant said a known offender struck her with a crow bar. She was taken to the hospital.

200 block E. Bringhurst St. – Complainant said a known offender wrapped a stethoscope around her hand and started punching her in the forehead during a dispute.

400 block Church Lane – Complainant said that a known offender cut her hand with a 12-inch knife during a dispute. Complainant was taken to the hospital.

100 block W. Sharpnack St. – Complainant said a known offender cut her on her right hand with a knife.

Unit block E. High St. – Mac laptop stolen from a high school at the location.

8100 block Saint Martins Lane – Two Apple iPhones and a Mac laptop were stolen from the property between 12-8:15 a.m.

Jan. 4, 2012

1300 block Narragansett St. – Complainant said a man robbed her at the location. She said the known offender took off with her cell phone after she lent it to him. Offender also punched complainant in the face before fleeing the scene.

200 block Garrett St. – 60-feet of copper pipes, furnace and a 50-foot roll of aluminum cable stolen from the property between 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and 11 a.m. Jan. 4.

7000 block Lincoln Drive – HP laptop, Toshiba laptop, watch and $40 worth of loose change were stolen from the property.

7800 block Navajo St. – Two sets of pearl necklaces, gold colored necklace, diamond ring, wedding band and other jewelry were stolen from the property.

Unit block Valley Green Road – Tote bag, Macbook computer, charger, shoulder bag, camera lens, wallet, keys and $20 stolen from a 1999 Ford Escort.

Jan. 5, 2012

5800 block Brush Road – A man was shot in the back and right shoulder by an unknown offender. Complainant was taken to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

5100 block Germantown Ave. – Complainant said a man robbed the store at gunpoint. Offender fled with two bottles of vodka.

1200 block E. Stafford St. – Complainant said three men masked men forced their way into her home and at gunpoint and robbed her. Offenders ran off with an HP laptop and a Samsung cell phone.

7500 block Forrest Ave. – Complainant said a known offender swung a knife at her, cut her left ear and struck her twice in the head after accusing her of stealing her phone. Offender was gone before police arrived.

500 block E. Queen Lane – HP laptop stolen from the property.

6800 block Sherman St. – 1997 Honda Civic stolen.

8100 block St. Martins Lane – $1,000, jewelry, leather handbag, SS card, health card, driver’s license, coat and vest were stolen from the property.

100 block W. Springfield Ave. – Jewelry and watches were stolen from the property.

Jan. 6, 2012

7800 block Ogontz Ave. – 1996 Ford F150 stolen.

100 block E. Washington Lane – Complainant said her ex-boyfriend robbed her at gunpoint as she was exiting her car. Offender ran off with $35. Complainant has a stay-away order against the offender.

Unit block Harvey St. – Wallet, credit cards, ID, $700, Samsung cell phone and a My Touch cell phone stolen from the property between 3:20-3:30 p.m.

5400 block Greene St. – Wallet, two debit cards, Visa cards and a duffel bag were stolen from a 2003 Subaru Baja truck.

6000 block Wayne Ave. – 1999 Honda Civic stolen.

5800 block Germantown Ave. – An unknown offender started a fire in the rear of the location. Incident was deemed arson.

Unit block E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. – 2002 Dodge Caravan stolen.

Jan. 7, 2012

1700 block E. Washington Lane – Complainant said two men robbed him at gunpoint. Offenders ran off with $120.

6100 block McMahon Ave. – Complainant said someone stole an envelope from her purse that contained $999.
