11-11-11: What is it and what are you doing?

One hundred years ago on Nov. 11, 1911, temperatures dropped significantly around the country and storms came through, forever marking the date as the Great Blue Norther.

Now, a century later, another 11-11-11 is upon us.

The date has many significances — from Veterans Day to a lucky bet at the casino and in the mathematics world. And of course, it’s a date that’s bound to bring adventure to the lives of some.

AOL’s Gadling travel blog has some recommendations for how to spend this once-a-century date: propose, play the lottery, try something you’ve never done.
