Liz Moore on her novel ‘Heft’

    Listen

    Hour 2

The narrator in LIZ MOORE’s new novel,”Heft,” is not your typical protagonist. Arthur Opp describes himself as being “colossally fat,” as he weighs over 500 lbs and hasn’t left his house in years. “Heft” tells the story of this former history professor, and the unlikely friendship he forges with a 17-year-old baseball prodigy. This is Moore’s second novel – she’s also a musician and an assistant professor of writing at Holy Family University. Moore is in studio with Marty to talk about writing and how she gets into the head of characters so different from herself.
