NewsWorks, WHYY’s launch into interactive news media

    Listen

    Hour 2

On Monday, WHYY will launch its new online news portal, called NewsWorks. NewsWorks will strive to offer smart multimedia news coverage on issues, arts, health and politics from Princeton, N.J. to Dover, Del., along with a pilot project bringing specialized coverage to the communities of Northwest Philadelphia. It’s a grant-funded effort by WHYY to fill in the growing gaps in the Delaware Valley’s news ecosystem, to expand news and culture social media opportunities for WHYY’s existing audience, and to tap into new markets. On today’s Radio Times, Marty welcomes WHYY’s Director of News & Civic Dialogue CHRIS SATULLO & WHYY’s NewsWorks editor MEGAN PINTO into the studio to discuss and explain what NewsWorks is and will be. Then we’ll hear from J-Lab’s JAN SCHAFFER, one of the nation’s leading voices on the future of media, about the evolving media landscape that NewsWorks is diving into.
