First for May 26, 2017

    Victory Village
As you celebrate the kick off of summer this Memorial Day weekend, we also remember those who have given their lives in service for their country. For veterans coming home, the transition to civilian life can be tough for those who need some extra help. There is construction taking place in Middletown and will be known as Victory Village. Shirley Min introduces the concept in our First Look.

    Delaware education desk
Gov. Carney’s proposed budget cuts for education, to the tune of $37 million, are a topic of grave concern in Delaware K-12 circles. Here to discuss the issue is Matt Burrows, Superintendent of Appoquinimink School District.

    First experience: Nina Mickelson
First Experience this week proves that you’re never to old to try new things. Lewes artist Nina Mickelson worked in business all her life. While recovering from surgery she decided to use her free time to explore her artistic side and she hasn’t looked back. Let’s head to Lewes.

    First Person: Ken Grant
Talk of Lewes and Rehoboth gives us thoughts about summer. We know that tourism is a big part of the Delaware economy and with this weekend being the unofficial kick off to summer, let’s bring in Ken Grant of AAA as our First Person.

    Removing fences
Recently WHYY along with community partners the Christina Cultural Arts Center and the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League brought local leaders together for a courageous conversation about race: Removing Fences Between Black and White Communities. During that discussion our panelists tackled some tough topics.
