The European Space Agency’s LISA Pathfinder Satellite will launch soon to advance the goal of detecting the unbelievably small effects of traveling gravity waves.

Albert Einstein first predicted the presence of gravity waves nearly 100 years ago, but detecting them has always been a challenge. Being able to do so would give astronomers another important tool in understanding how the universe works.

Heading out of doors, by 10 p.m. the full Winter Circle of constellations is up in the east. Those bright planets are well up in the east by 6am. Sunset time will sit at 4:35pm all this week, then begin coming later by next Monday. Sunrises continue their late arrival until early next month.
