A look at the dubious expenses of Pennsylvania’s lawmakers

    Listen

    Guests: Steve Esack, Eugene Tauber

In this edition of Ballot Talks: Allentown Morning Call reporter STEVE ESACK and database editor EUGENE TAUBER join Marty to discuss their ongoing series of exposés  in which they uncover some of the more questionable uses of taxpayer money among lawmakers in Harrisburg. The pair filed right-to-know requests with the chief clerks of each chamber of the general assembly, and went through public records to find superfluous, mysterious and downright odd spending by legislators.  In their first piece, they focused on some quirks in the state’s accounting processes.  In their second, they focused on per diemsin the state senate; money used for food and lodging when traveling long distances to and from Harrisburg.  And we’ll get a preview of their next piece, in which they will focus on consultants and consulting fees.
