A company has announced long-term power purchase agreements totaling 105 megawatts for its proposed eastern Pennsylvania wind farm.
The Scranton Times-Tribune says BP Wind Energy said yesterday the agreements involve the proposed Mehoopany Wind Farm in Wyoming County.
The company says one agreement is for 75 megawatts with Old Dominion Electric Cooperative and the other for 30 megawatts with Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative Inc.
The proposed wind farm would place about 90 wind turbines in Noxen, Forkston, Mehoppany and Eaton townships and generate as much as 144 megawatts of energy.
Officials hope to begin construction later this year and have full commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2012.
