White East Falls teachers claim racism

Four East Falls teachers have filed lawsuits alleging that their former principal created a hostile work environment in which white teachers were the victims of racial discrimination.

The allegations against Charles Ray III, who is black, include forcing his staff to read an article stating that white teachers do not have the ability to teach African-American students.

Ray also has been accused of leniency towards black teachers and of the continued sabotage of white teachers at Mifflin Elementary School.

The four teachers – Nicole Boyd, Debra McKibben Marenbach, Colleen Yarnell and Marta Ciccimaro – are each demanding more than $150,000, as reported by the Philadelphia Daily News.
