Welcome back! Thome, Phillies agree to 1-year deal

    Slugger Jim Thome is back in red. MLB.com reports the former Phillies slugger will return to Philadelphia after agreeing to a one-year deal.

    Thome, who first wore the red and white in 2003, returns to Philadelphia after spending the 2011 season with the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians.

    MLB.com, citing sources close to negotiations, reports the two parties agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract, pending the passing of a physical.

    Thome hit a combined .256 during the 2011 season with the Twins and Indians, hitting 15 home runs and 50 RBIs.
