Wegmans recalls pine nuts for possible salmonella contamination

Wegmans Food Markets has issued a recall on pine nut sold in stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and three other East Coast states.

The nuts — 5,000 lbs. of them — were sold in the stores’ bulk foods departments between July 1 and Oct. 18, and could be contaminated with salmonella, the Associated Press reports. They were imported from Turkey and have been linked to salmonella-related illnesses.

Customers who purchased the nuts with the store cards should have received a phone call about the recall, which came after an investigation by the CDC.
