Weekend News Briefs: 5/14-5/16

Missing Teen Police are looking for clue surrounding the disappearance of Shauntice Purdie. The 14-year-old was last seen Wednesday around 6 a.m. in her home on the 8000-block of Craig Street in Holmesburg. Purdie is a student at Austin Meehan Middle School.

Hit-and-runs A man in a wheelchair suffered head injuries as the result of a hit-and-run in Frankford. The man was struck on the 4200-block of Torresdale Avenue just after midnight Saturday morning. The victim is in stable condition, and police are looking for witnesses who may seen the crime, or a red van in the area.

A second hit-and-run in Frankford occurred last night at Duffield and Harrison streets. A 17-year-old male was struck around 8 p.m. by a woman driving a burgundy colored sedan. The victim was treated for a broken leg.

Auction Congregation Beth Solomon of Somerton purchased Valley Swim Club Thursday for $1.46 million. The synagogue was one of five parties bidding for the Montgomery County club, which filed for bankruptcy in November 2009.
