Waterfront Corporation plans to work with women- and minority-owned businesses

The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation has plans to spend about 25 to 30 percent of its discretionary budget working with women- and minority-owned businesses.

That money — about $1.05 million — will supports goods and services from those businesses this fiscal year.

PlanPhilly reports on the spending plan, which was discussed at a recent DRWC meeting. Half of the organization’s $7 million budget is reserved for institutional costs, and the DRWC spends about $10 million additionally each year on capital projects.

The DRWC worked with the Urban Affairs Coalition to outline the plan, and will form a committee to oversee its implementation and make suggestions.
