Water main break in Brick may snarl rush hour traffic coming off GSP

A water main break at a key intersection in Brick may snarl rush hour traffic Friday afternoon, police say.

The Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority and the Brick Township Police Department are currently on the scene of the incident at the intersection of Burnt Tavern Road and Herborn Avenue, according to Sgt. Henry J. Drew, a spokesman for the Brick Township Police Department.

“Traffic in the area will be rerouted as the repair crews attempt to locate the exact source and location of the break,” Drew said in a release. “If traveling in the area, motorists should expect periodic lane closures at the Garden State Parkway Exit 91, Burnt Tavern Road (east and west in the area of Exit 91), and Lanes Mill Road Northbound (in the area of Exit 91).”

The work may also lead to lane shifts and full lane closures during and through rush hour, he added.

“If possible, please avoid the area and make sure to follow road closure signs and directions from police officers,” Drew said.
