Walnut Hill Community Assoc. celebrates 50th birthday

The Walnut Hill Community Association celebrated its 50th birthday in style Saturday by throwing itself a birthday block party.

According to WestPhillyLocal.com, the community association party offered residents everything from face painting to free hot dogs.

The part was held on 50th Street between Locust and Walnut in front of two lots the WHCA recently turned into community gardens, thanks to a grant from the Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia.

According to WestPhillyLocal.com, State Senator Vincent Hughes was on hand to present a check for $1,000 to WHCA President Horace Patterson to help with the association’s efforts.  Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell was also among those in attendance.
