Volunteers stuff backpacks destined for area students

Volunteers will join Mayor Michael Nutter at the Philadelphia Zoo today for a big task: stuffing 15,000 backpacks with school supplies for kids in the Delaware Valley.

With funding from Citizens Bank, Cradles to Crayons has the backpacks ready to go, to be stuffed with school supplies dropped in Citizens Bank branches around Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Once stuffed, the backpacks will go to 200 area agencies to be delivered to kids who could use a little help getting ready for the school year.
