Vineland School Board seeks parents’ input on uniforms

To uniforms create a sense of order or squelch students’ self expression?

The debate was on between parents and students of Vineland’s public schools Monday as the school board works toward implementing student uniforms for the 2013-14 school year.
The board has been gathering public opinion on the proposal, as the Daily Journal reports, and Monday’s meeting ended with support for a mandatory uniform policy.

A final decision hasn’t been made, and the no style or color has been chosen. One commenter on the DJ story suggested phasing in the uniform system.

Do you think public schools could benefit from a mandatory uniform policy, or do uniforms not make enough of a difference in the education atmosphere?
