Village gets its ‘Christmas’ back

The ‘Christmas’ could be back on the Christmas Village signs at City Hall in Philadelphia as soon as today. Mayor Michael Nutter says he urged Thomas Bauer, the head of German American Marketing, to return the sign to its original configuration.

“I asked Mr. Bauer to reconsider the decision that he made a couple of days ago with regard to taking the sign down,” says Nutter. “I’m pleased to let you know Christmas Village is back. The sign will be back and we are fully appreciative and supportive of Mr. Bauer’s decision.”

Bauer issued a statement on Tuesday claiming the sign was removed at the request of Managing Director Richard Negrin.  Nutter says the city never asked for the sign to be removed and is supporting its return.
