Chris Bakley is on a mission to showcase the beauty of Cape May, his hometown.

With the release of his short time-lapse film, The Cape, the photographer and filmmaker just might have met his goal.

Bakley takes the viewer on a journey throughout the southernmost tip of New Jersey from the early morning hours through sunset.

“I have lived in and around Cape May my entire life, and in my opinion, Cape May is one of — if not the most — beautiful small town you could ever visit, and I am lucky to call it my home,” Bakley wrote in a message to JSHN. “There is nothing more fascinating than walking around a quite little town with all of its amazing historical sites. Add a camera to that and you can’t go wrong!”

Just over one minute long, viewers will catch a glimpe of the night sky over beaches, surfers enjoying a Cape May Point sunrise session, various scenes from historical spots around town, then aptly ending with a vivid sunset over water.

The production of the film, which Bakley says he hopes “brings you one step closer to feeling like you’re here,” presented new challenges and tested the limits of his capabilities.

All you need to go on this “amazing adventure” is to “please spare a minute, take a seat, turn the volume up, and press the HD button,” he says.
