Video: “Lake Atlantic” conditions prevail at the Jersey Shore today

The surf conditions were perfect today — if you’re an ant.

“Need waves,” said Quantum Design Lab’s Chris Anderson, who shot this video of his dog, Margo, frolicking along the calm South Seaside Park shoreline under a mixture of sun and puffy white clouds.

A cool, breezy day at the beach, Anderson said that he misses the summer weather. Ocean temperatures along the New Jersey coast are currently in the upper 50s, according to NOAA.

If you prefer a calm ocean, conditions early tomorrow will be similar to today, but as a southwest wind picks up during the afternoon, chop will develop, lasting through Sunday. Expect breezy conditions all weekend.

As for the weather, a beautiful fall weekend is on tap. Tonight will be very chilly, with a freeze expected throughout most of the southern half of the Garden State. Tomorrow will be slightly warmer than today, with high temperatures topping out in the upper 50s. On Sunday, we’ll reach about 60. Both weekend nights will be noticeably warmer than tonight.
