Vases stolen from 120 graves in New Castle cemetery

Caretakers at Gracelawn Memorial Park are considering installing security cameras or gates after a series of thefts. After the snow started melting last month, Lee Hagenbach, president of the New Castle cemetery, began noticing bronze vases missing from plots.

About 25 visitors to the cemetery on Valentine’s Day reported missing vases, bringing the total number to 120, reports the Associated Press. The Wilmington News Journal says the built-in vases are worth more than $14,000. Hagenbach has notified area scrap yards to keep an eye out.
