Utilities restore power after thunderstorms in N.J.

Utility crews are making progress restoring electricity that was knocked out to more than 3,800 homes and businesses when thunderstorms rolled through New Jersey.

Jersey Central Power & Light reports 1,206 customers are without power Monday, most of them in Monmouth and Morris counties. Atlantic City Electric has 142 customers without service, mainly in Atlantic and Cumberland counties.

The thunderstorms packed powerful winds, lightning and downpours late last night.
