Urban Outfitters, Glaxo Smith Kline will bring jobs to Navy Yard

In a quick announcement this morning, Mayor Michael Nutter said the Urban Outfitters expansion will bring 1,000 jobs to the Navy Yard as part of an expansion.

While a more complete announcement by Urban Outfitters is expected tomorrow, Tom MacDonald reports for WHYY that Glaxo Smith Kline will move its operations to the waterfront development center.

The company will move its Center City operations to the Navy Yard by 2012 or 2013 to an $80 million LEED Platinum building.

Between the two companies, 2,300 employees will be based at the Navy Yard.
