Upper Darby adds plastics to recycling collection

In its efforts to increase recycling, Upper Darby has expanded its collection intake. Plastics 4, 5 and 7 are now recycleable.

The Delaware County Times reports the change is effective immediately, and is a way to keep increasing the collection amounts, which are up to 4,153 tons from the 3,593 collected in 2009.

The township began single-stream recycling in January 2009, and to a weekly collection that June.
