University of Delaware student identified as train accident casualty
Officials have identified the young man who was struck and killed by a freight train in Newark.
Police say 20-year-old Nolan Sandlin of Dover apparently stepped onto the tracks in the train’s path Saturday morning. He was struck by a CSX train about 7:30 a.m. It happened near East Cleveland Avenue and North Chapel Street.
Newark police say Sandlin was a University of Delaware student.
The train remained on the tracks after the crash.
