Two children killed in Delaware car crash

Two children are dead following an accident last night at 4th and Lincoln Streets in Wilmington.

A six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl were killed when a Mitsubishi Galant and a Hyundai collided in the middle of the intersection around 10 Wednesday night.  The girl was pronounced dead last night, the boy died earlier Thursday morning.  The children’s mother, who was driving, is still hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Following the crash, the driver of the Hyundai fled the scene, but was later captured.  She was found to have an outstanding capias for her arrest, and is being held on those charges.

Wilmington Police investigators are working with the Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden’s office to determine what charges will be filed.  Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the Wilmington Police Traffic Division at 576-3692.
