Trial involving fired Philly housing czar on hold

A former Philadelphia housing director won’t be back on the stand as planned in a trial over his firing.

The trial has been in recess since Wednesday. Lawyers are not commenting on the break, although the court docket shows there have been two attempts to settle the case since the trial started.

If the trial resumes, ex-director Carl Greene would likely be questioned by city lawyers over four sexual harassment lawsuits the agency secretly settled.

Greene alleges that board chairman John Street, a former mayor, orchestrated his firing in 2010.

Greene is seeking about $700,000 for the two years remaining on his employment contract.

His lawyer confirms the trial won’t be in session Monday, but did not comment further.

A city attorney did not return a call for comment.
