Trenton mayor lobbies in Washington for new police officers

Trenton Mayor Tony Mack is hoping to secure the funds to hire some of the 105 police officers laid off last month.

The Times reports the Trenton Mayor met with officials from President Barack Obama’s administration Friday to discuss securing the funds.

The city lost out on a federal grant for police officers, which led to the mayor’s visit to Washington.

The Times reports Mack returned to New Jersey without securing any funds, however, the mayor did say the trip was valuable because he was able to discuss the city’s need for more police officers.
