Transit Workers union to endorse Nutter for mayor

Mayor Michael Nutter is expected to get an endorsement tomorrow from the Transit Workers union.

TWU Local 234, SEPTA’s largest union, say Nutter’s support for transit workers following a string of assaults on SEPTA drivers is one of the reasons for the endorsement.

“We would not be able to move Philadelphia – to deliver students to school, to get elderly residents to doctor’s offices, to transport hundreds of thousands of our region’s employees to job sites each day – if we did not have a working relationship with our elected officials,” union president John Johnson said.
