Towns vote to close Route 52 causeway for construction

In an effort to save summer tourism, Ocean City and Somers Point councils voted separately and unanimously last night to close the Route 52 causeway during construction.

The ongoing project has resulted in full and partial lane closures, which are likely to continue through the summer. Instead, the councils voted to close the causeway through April to allow for uninterrupted construction.

The Somers Point Council had many stipulations, which you can read at the Press of Atlantic City.
