Ties that fine

You know those quick-fixes you do around the house to make every day life a little easier? The pros use them, too. And get fined for doing so.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission yesterday fined PECO for tying a wire outside a Coatesville woman’s home to a tree back in November 2007. The tree was reportedly hanging too low for the homeowner to park her RV in the driveway.

As a solution, a PECO employee used rope to secure the wire to a tree, raising it up. Another employee came back to create a more permanent, less-obtrusive set up. But it took 18 months to do so.

The PUC voted four to one to approve the $1,000 fine.
